BREAKING: Black Hockey Player FIRED After Raising Fist During National Anthem

The NFL may be coddling black athletes who are protesting our police force, our flag, and our veterans by kneeling, but the National Hockey League refuses to do the same.

On Sunday, J.T. Brown of the Tampa Bay Lightning jumped on the “hate our troops” bandwagon and made a “black power” fist – a gesture assembled with black supremacist groups – during the National Anthem.

Brown was counting on P.C. culture winning out and letting him keep his job, but what happened next ruined his life.

“This is not, and has never been, about the military or disrespecting the flag,” Brown said in an interview with ESPN after he raised his fist. “It is about police brutality, racial injustice, and inequality in this country. It is something that I as well as many others feel needs to be addressed. I love my country, but that doesn’t mean I cannot acknowledge that it is not perfect.”

Unfortunately, the owner of the team disagrees. Burt Lancaster announced a few hours later that the team will be seeking a new forward to replace Brown.

“We wish Mr. Brown the best, but we feel that he does not embody the values of the Tampa Bay Lightning,” Lancaster says. “We support our country, we support our troops, we support our police, and we support our President.”

Brown will continue to be paid until the end of the season as per the terms of his contract, but will then be looking for a job.

Delighted that Mr. Lancaster is standing up for the values that Americans hold dear. These players are paid huge sums of money to play a game that they love. If you want to express yourself it should not be at a public sporting event where the fans are not paying to see you disrespect our flag and country. Thank you Mr. Lancaster.

    • AMEN A THOUSAND TIMES!!! IF THEY WANT TO WHINE ABOUT THEIR RIGHTS THEY SHOULD BE SMART ENOUGH TO SELECT A POLITICAL VENUE— BUT THEY CHOSE THE WRONG VENUE: A SPORTING EVENT WHERE FANS HAVE ALWAYS OBSERVED STANDING UP LIKE A HUMAN BEING, INSTEAD OF THAT SQUATTING LIKE A FROG WHILE THE NATIONAL ANTHEM IS BEING PLAYED OR SUNG!!! IT HAS ALWAYS BEEN AN HONOR TO BE CHOSEN TO PLAY AND/OR SING THE NATIONAL ANTHEM AT SPORTING EVENTS. tHANK GOD FOR MR. BURT LANDCASTER FOR OUSTING THE DISRESPECTFUL VARMUNT!!! AS A VET I AM PLEASED THAT OWNER DID THE RIGHT THING!!!!!!!!!!!

Hurray for the NHL. If a person wants to protest something so it in the proper way without disrespecting the flag and the anthem. There are many things not right here. This is planet earth—and that will continue until we get to heaven. Go to the source of your problem, e.g. The police dept, city hall, etc and peacefully discuss it with them. I don’t know any country where everything is perfect. If there is, move there!

  3. Wink says:

Glad some owners of something will respect our country. This is what should happen. If the NFL had done this they would not be loosing fans by the hundreds.

  4. John Krueger says:

Thank you to NHL For standing their ground and I again be watching the NHL and never again watch anything NFL

  5. Glen says:

Bert Lancaster you definitely did the right thing by removing this rotten apple from your team I could almost switch from being a Winnipeg jets fan to a Tampa bay fan and if any of our jets were to pull off an ack like that and the owners did nothing then I would become a Tampa bay fan guarantee

When will those S.O.B.’s realize the American has done more then ANY other nation on behalf of equality!! They should be celebrating that they live and have VERY well paying jobs due to the equality we afford everyone! Granted it’s not perfect, but we’ll have to wait for the return of Jesus Christ for that to happen!!

A a Black American Male, I would like to point out 2 things. One, kneeling or raising your fist during the national anthem does NOT change a damn thing with anything concerning this country. Two, kneeling or raising your fist during the national anthem does NOT change anything that wrong with this country. The ONLY thing that changes anything is when people change THE LAWS. So if you are on an employers dime, he (or she) has the right to react in whatever way he or she feels in reaction to your action representing their organization. PERIOD.

      Amen brother!!!

I was saying last year, if Instead of kneeling they Rach paid for ONE person to go to college, learn a trade , with the caveat that they help someone else …

It would go so much further

too bad you aren’t on a hockey team. they could fire your stupid ass.

The difference here is that the NFL Commissioner agrees with the demonstrating players.

  13. Ratso says:

JT Brown has no recourse as long as he is paid his contract. His freedom of speech/expression was not abridged. He could have done interviews with news media after games and express and explain his views. To do what he did reflects poorly on his team, the owners and the fans. He made a mistake and possibly a costly one. I would hope a white player does something like this too and gets fired.

    Racist owners and fans

    • Jason says:

A black professor just did a study that revealed race has nothing to do with police violence whether the cop is white or not and also whether the perp is white or not. The level of police “violence” is situational based on threat level but overall more whites are killed or injured per year by cops than black. So if there are race issues it is not white on black.

National Level. All that is good about America is represented in the Anthem/Flag/Pledge. Millions have sacrificed to make America great and their efforts and sacrifices are memorialized and celebrated during the patriotic minute of the Anthem. Americans should still follow the laws and procedures that made America great and if they don’t like something go through the proper legislative and /or legal channels to change things.

Team or Group Level. Sports fans should realize that they too memorialize all that is good about their team as represented by banners/logos/mascots/HOF/other memorabilia. Teams/players/fans must still follow rules and procedures and if they don’t like something… go through the proper legal channels to fix it.

Individual Level. When a person dies all that is good about that person is honored at their funeral/memorial service.

Since when is it okay to disrespect somebody by bringing up the bad that they represented during their memorial service? This is not civil but somehow it became alright to infringe upon a memorial service by ignoring all that is good and bringing up the bad.

A Do Unto Others philosophy would dictate that funerals and memorial services for those disrespectful of our flag/anthem/pledge should get peaceful protests denouncing the negative associated with their life. Peacefully raised “Bloody” gloves for murderers, peacefully vandalized property for Antifa/BLM thugs, peacefully worn t-shirts stating appropriate negatives like thug/pedophile/rapist/thief/pervert/murderer, a few kneeling in protest periodically during the service, a few laughing or talking during the funeral/memorial service, maybe a few butthurt foes singing Amazing Disgrace extra loud and out of key with a few other choice lyrics added, throw in a peaceful but illegal roadblock and associated disrespectful signs and banners and a few idiots on a megaphone/bullhorn and you have the full scope of disrespect.

I for one do not like that sort of disrespect during the memorial service (Anthem/Flag/Pledge) for all that is good regarding America and those millions that sacrificed for America. Civility is being lost.

Great move by the Lightning! No workplace is the proper venue for protesting for or against your personal concerns.

Idiots. Burt Lancaster is a dead actor. Jeff Vinic is the owner of the lighting, and a quick google tells you this guy is still employed.

Anyone who fell for this article should consider re-enrolling in gradeschool because obviously you missed something.

Are we living in America or N Korea

  25. Tom says:

    Burt Lancaster died, in 1994-lol!!!

  26. If he loves his country as he says he does then he is showing a terrible disrespect against the flag that represents the country he says he loves. The flag does not represent police brutality racial injustice or equality. The flag symbolizes what he loves about this nation and should never be used to protest personal grievances Racist who harbor hate and ignorantly speak out against the flag does not even consider that ISIS doesn’t burn our flag because of racial injustice, equality, etc. They hate the American flag because it represents a strong people, independence, freedoms (to protest or any other choice) and united under ONE nation. They burn the American flag because of the honor we show our country and that honor is what Americans fought and died for. Anyone to show less is not a loyal patriotic citizen and does not deserve what they do have!!

  27. Richard says:

These athletes with their millions have plenty of times and places to which they can make their voices heard. The public has already shown it considers the power fist and kneeling to be disrespectful.

  28. Rebecca says:

These professional athletes have so much opportunity, after all, not everyone that tries out for a pro sports team, makes it, so many are cut! They are paid millions, but they are just taking it all for granted, and putting their career in jeopardy! The sports field is not the place to protest their anger, no more than any other work place is! I have already stopped watching NFL games, and so have just about everyone on my FB page! They are digging their own grave!
